The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan

In a disturbing and moving documentary, Afghan journalist Najibullah Quraishi investigates the plight of Afghanistan’s “dancing boys,” a re-emerging ancient — and illegal — practice of buying, selling and trading young boys for the entertainment of warlords and other powerful men. The boys are lured away from their impoverished families with promises of a better life, completely unaware of the abuse and exploitation that await them.

This is not an easy film to watch, but it serves as a powerful reminder of the nation’s life beyond the headlines.
